Range extending gas generator

RANGE EXTENDING GAS GENERATOR

The feeling is electric

With 294 lb.-ft. of torque, you’ll love the feeling from the first press of the accelerator. Volt is smart too. Its 1.5L direct-injected high-efficiency range extender and two electric motors help it run on an electric charge while generating additional energy when the battery runs out.

Up to 85 kilometres battery range on a full charge

If your average daily commute is only about 65 kilometres round trip, Volt offers enough battery range to make it from home to work, with extra range for errands in between.

Up to 676 kilometres of total range with a full tank of gas and full charge

Not sure if up to 85 kilometres is enough to get you back and forth? The Volt plug-in hybrid has a backup plan. If required, Volt seamlessly switches over to gas to extend your range, giving you the peace of mind to go hundreds of kilometres farther with a full tank of gas

How does it work?

How does it work?

Two electric motors work together to help optimize efficiency and conserve your electric charge. Volt has an onboard gas generator that automatically switches on when your charge is running low. The transition is so seamless and smooth, you likely won’t feel it at all.

How long does the battery last?

How long does the battery last?

With over 115,000 Volt drivers on the road today, the numbers speak for themselves. Volt offers owners peace of mind with Chevrolet Complete Care, which includes propulsion battery and specified electric drive component warranty coverage for 8 years or 160,000 km

Does it run on gas?

Does it run on gas?

Yes, you can put gas in it. Volt seamlessly switches to its gas-powered generator when the battery charge is depleted – offering you an extended range of up to 591 kilometres on a full tank.

Can it regenerate energy?

Can it regenerate energy?

Yes, Volt helps to recharge its own battery through regenerative braking, which captures otherwise lost kinetic energy and transfers it back to the battery. And with Regen on Demand,™ Volt may allow you to increase the regenerative braking effect and gives you even more control of your range.

REGEN ON DEMAND

With a simple pull of the paddle on your steering wheel, you’re able to slow down without using the actual brake pedal. This helps convert kinetic energy into more electricity and then transfers it back to the battery. Of course, you should use the brake pedal if you need to stop immediately.

ENERGY SCREENS

Want to know where you’re using the most energy or how much charge you have left in the battery? All of that valuable real-time information is housed on the color touch-screen and Driver Information Centre behind the steering wheel.

Two ways to charge

120-VOLT CHARGING

A 120-volt portable cord is included and can be plugged into anywhere there is a standard 3-prong outlet.

240-VOLT CHARGING

Standard on Premier models and available on LT, the new 7.2 kW onboard charging unit can provide up to 35 kilometres per hour charged with the available 240-volt charge unit (professional installation required). That’s twice as fast as the previous model.

Brains, with the looks to match
