If your electric vehicle is equipped with One-Pedal
One-Pedal Driving makes your vehicle slow down quickly when you lift your foot off the accelerator. Regen On Demand is a separate feature that lets you use a paddle on the back of your steering wheel to control how fast you slow down.
Important: State of Charge and Regenerative Braking
To help you maintain your vehicle’s battery, it is recommended you only charge your battery to 80% capacity for daily use. This allows space in the battery for regenerative braking, which uses the electric motor to help slow the vehicle while simultaneously charging the vehicle with free energy. For longer trips, you can adjust your charge above 80% for extended range. See your Owner’s Manual for more information.
1. Before you can use One-Pedal Driving, you have to turn it on. To turn the feature on:
a. Select the Vehicle Controls app on your centre display.
b. Then, select “Drive and Park” to turn One-Pedal Driving on or off and customize the level of braking it offers.
c. You may also see a One-Pedal Driving button on your screen that you can use to quicky turn One-Pedal Driving on or off.
2. One-Pedal Driving will remain on until you turn it off, even if you turn your vehicle off and then back on again.
When One-Pedal Driving is engaged, the position of your accelerator pedal determines how the vehicle will behave — either accelerating, coasting, slowing down quickly, slowing down gradually or coming to a complete stop.
You can manually slow your vehicle down with the Regen On Demand paddle. It converts the energy from your vehicle's movement and returns it to the vehicle's battery. You can use this feature on its own or together with One-Pedal Driving.
To use Regen On Demand:
1. Pull the paddle on the back of your steering wheel toward you and hold it.
a. The vehicle will slow down more quickly when you hold the paddle.
b. If your vehicle is equipped with Variable Regen On Demand, you can adjust the amount of deceleration you experience with the Regen On Demand paddle. To do this, pull the paddle closer to you for more aggressive deceleration.
2. Release the paddle when you want to continue normal driving.
3. If the vehicle is brought to a complete stop while you’re holding the paddle, the vehicle will not creep forward when you release the paddle. Use the accelerator pedal to move forward.
4. While using Regen on Demand, you can also continue to use your brakes or accelerator pedals as needed to slow or stop the vehicle.
Chevrolet Bolt is built on a different battery platform from the latest EVs. With this in mind, some feature operation and care instructions vary from most EV models.
How to engage One-Pedal Driving on Bolt EV and EUV models:
1. While in DRIVE, press the One-Pedal Driving button. It’s labelled with a foot with two arrows around it.
2. You’ll see an icon appear in the Driver Information Centre (it looks like a foot pressing a pedal with a continuous circle around it), which tells you One-Pedal Driving is active.
3. After you engage it, the feature works in both FORWARD (D) and REVERSE (R).
4. To turn One-Pedal Driving off, press the foot button again.
5. On these models, if One-Pedal Driving is active when you turn off your vehicle, the vehicle will remember the setting on the next ignition cycle. You do not need to re-engage it each time you drive.
If your vehicle has a shift-lever-style Electronic Precision Shift on the centre console:
1. When the vehicle is in DRIVE, an “L” will appear below the “D” on the shifter. Pull the shifter rearward to shift to “L” (LOW).
2. You’ll see an “L” icon appear in the Driver Information Centre, which tells you One-Pedal Driving is active.
3. To turn One-Pedal Driving off, pull the shifter rearward again to return to “D” (DRIVE). The icon in the Driver Information Centre will change to “D.”
4. On these models, if you wish to use One-Pedal Driving on your next drive, you will need to reengage it by following this process again (it will not stay active on the next ignition cycle
There are several conditions that may impact these features:
