PowerBase is an available system of electrical circuits and outlets that lets your vehicle power a variety of tools and electronic devices through multiple 120V outlets and one 240V outlet.


How to Use PowerBase to Power Devices With Your Vehicle

1. PowerBase consists of seven electrical outlets located in the truck bed, eTrunk and vehicle cabin.

2. These outlets are always “on” when the vehicle is on, even if the vehicle is in Park or moving.

3. You will see a green LED light up near the outlet to indicate power flow is active. The truck bed, eTrunk and cabin outlets will each have their own LED.

a. The LEDs in the other locations on the truck may light up when you’re using a different outlet. This is normal and happens to show you that power is being supplied to the outlets.

4. The system includes six 120V outlets and one 240V outlet.

5. The 120V outlets are powered by two 20-amp circuits with a maximum power draw of 2.4 kW each, for a total of 4.8 kW of 120V power.

6. The 240V outlet is powered by a 30-amp circuit with a maximum power draw of 7.2 kW.

7. The total system power draw cannot exceed 7.2 kW across both 120V and 240V outlets.

8. Most electronic devices should work normally with PowerBase.

9. Some tools with high initial power draws, such as large or older saws and air compressors, may exceed the system inverter’s capability, even if the device is rated less than 20 amps.

Using the Outlets When Your Vehicle Is Off

1. When your vehicle is in Park, go to the Settings menu in your infotainment system.

2. You’ll see an option to keep the outlets active, even when the vehicle is off.

a. Your vehicle must be on for you to turn this setting on.

3. When your outlets are still on and your vehicle is off, you can open the PowerBase app on your infotainment system to see a graphic that shows how much power the outlets are drawing so you don’t exceed the system’s limits.

4. You can set two different kinds of limits to ensure you don’t draw too much power from your vehicle’s battery.

Time Limit and Range Reserve Limit

1. Time Limit: You can set a timer so the outlets automatically turn off after a set number of hours.

2. Range Reserve Limit: You can set a range reserve so the outlets automatically turn off when the battery hits a certain percentage of state of charge.

a. This helps make sure you can use the outlets to power your devices and still have driving range to make it to your destination.

b. You can choose to set your range reserve to 0% state of charge. If you do this, your vehicle will not stop providing power to the outlets on its own. Connected devices may draw your vehicle’s battery down until it does not have sufficient energy to power the vehicle. If this happens, you will need to charge your vehicle before it can be driven again.

i. Make sure you are someplace where the vehicle can be charged if you set a low state of charge limit. You may see a notification letting you know vehicle performance may be affected when you do this.

c. Do not set a state of charge limit above your current vehicle state of charge — this will cause the outlets to turn off when you turn your vehicle off.

How to Reset PowerBase Circuits

1. The 120V outlets are protected by 20-amp circuit breakers.

a. These are resettable at the bed outlet module.

2. The 20-amp circuit breakers are part of the bed outlet module.

a. You must close all outlet covers to reset the circuit.

3. The 240V outlet is protected by 30-amp overcurrent protection.

a. This is managed within the inverter and is resettable via the system reset button located at the bed outlet module.

b. You must close all outlet covers to reset the circuit.

4. The 120V and 240V outlets are protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).

a. Ground faults are detected and interrupted within the inverter.

b. GFCI faults are resettable via the system reset button located at the bed outlet module.

c. You must close all outlet covers to reset the circuit.

Safety Considerations When Using PowerBase

1. Do not use the system in wet or rainy conditions.

2. Do not use electrical devices with the system that are not working properly or have faulty connections. Do not use any devices with loose-fitting connections, especially when the vehicle is moving.

3. Disconnect devices when no longer in use.
